robert kime

I came across these fabrics and wall fixture today at robert kime. textiles are truly my first love and i was taken with his ikats and tickings. ikat is a traditional asian technique of embellisment that i find very beautiful. in ikat, which means "tied" or "bound", the threads of the warp, the weft or both are tie dyed to create a design before they are woven. as the cloth is woven a pattern appears. i am always excited to see them and wish i was smart enough to weave some myself!

Beautiful Lantern. Ikats are, in my thoughts, most wonderful in blue and white and then used in beach house decor with lots of wonderful denims and stripes and hessians. Lovely PostAmy.
